Specialized has not neglected performance, and the Aethos is the lightest bike in its class, but no compromises have been made in terms of style. Aethos: countless calculations for one purpose, a perfect ride. This frame is the perfect starting point for creating the bike of your dreams. The Aethos frame was designed to create the perfect combination of ride quality, lightness and style - to be able to accelerate even on steep climbs, descend the most technical descents and to be comfortable even on long Sunday rides. But you might ask, how did Specialized do it? It re-invented the traditional road bike shape of the past, changing it slightly to optimise stiffness and balance, without compromising weight or strength. A lightweight frame is no use if the riding characteristics do not inspire confidence. That's why for the Aethos, Specialized sought the perfect mix of stiffness at the front and rear in relation to ride quality. By studying the flexibility and every detail of the carbon fibres, specialised also discovered a lot about how forces flow through the frame. It only takes a few pedal strokes to realise that the Aethos represents a new standard of riding. Every detail, from the gear support to the stem expander, has been designed with style, weight and strength in mind. In addition, Specialized included the new Alpinist carbon-fibre seatpost to shed further weight and optimise the ride characteristics - all for perfect rideability.
