Merida ONE-FORTY 500 III2
Trail riding is all about going further, faster than ever before. ONE-FORTY 500 positively encourages you to do that thanks to an all-aluminium frame with radical test and award-winning trail geometry that's equally happy cleaning the toughest climbs as it is ripping down high-mountain trails. There's no point getting out there if you can't get back, which is why fitted high-value kit that delivers solid performance. Marzocchi and RockShox take care of the suspension, while a wide-range Shimano 12-speed drivetrain turns your effort into go and four-piston brakes turn the lightest touch into slow.
The test and award-winning ONE-FORTY is the ultimate trail bike, made for the toughest trails in the world. It’s the pinnacle of modern trail riding, with a super-steep 80° seat angle, low front end and bottom bracket allow it to clear the most technical climbs, while longer reach figures across all sizes and a well-balanced 65° head angle mean it’s still more than capable of ripping any descent. With AGILOMETER sizing system, riders can run a longer or shorter reach frame independently of their height, with suspension that becomes more progressive as you size up to better cope with heavier/harder riders. We’ve focussed on weight reduction and rolling speed too, for improved efficiency. All bikes come with long travel dropper posts, WIRE PORT cable routing and a reliable threaded bottom bracket plus carbon frames have on-board tool storage and Fidlock magnetic bottle cages.

Technologies
Prolite 66 Triple butted aluminum
Proven high-end aluminum (6066) is extremely lightweight and strong. Using triple butted wall thicknesses and hydroforming technology, aluminum tubes can be fine-tuned to provide the best possible stiffness-to-weight ratio.
HFS - Hydro Forming System
Tubes are inserted into negative molds and a hot emulsion of water and oil is forced under pressure, enabling them to form complex shapes.
X-TAPER Headtube
The X-Tapered headtube provides space to mount a tapered fork. Tapered forks offer exceptional stiffness and precision and provide confidence-inspiring steering.
Smooth welding
Sometimes called "double pass welding," a second pass on the weld gives the frame a clean, organic look. At first glance, you'll be convinced it's carbon.
Internal cable routing
Cables are routed through the frame, going in and out through smooth sockets. The bike has a clean look, while the cables are protected from moisture and dirt.
NON-Slip Tightening
Selected bolts can be tightened on one side only, without running the risk of the opposite side slipping or rotating, allowing faster and more direct tightening of important hardware components.
P-Flex
The yielding nature of the material and the specific shaping of the tubes allows the frame to flex near the junction of the saddle and chainstay, making a pivot point obsolete. By not mounting a pivot point at the junction of the saddle and chainstay, we save weight and add rigidity.
Wire Port
MERIDA has designed covers that allow all control cables to enter the frame through the headset, creating a clean, uncluttered appearance without making structural changes to the frame. Depending on the model, the cables pass completely inside (including bar and stem) or semi-integrated where the cables enter the frame under the stem.
Fast kinematic
Flexstay rear suspension platform that has size-specific suspension kinematics, with longer reach models having more progression to better suit tougher and/or heavier riders. Adjustable plate to use 29er or mixed (27.5-29) full wheel conformation while preserving geometry.
Long fender
ONE-FORTY and ONE-SIXTY can mount an elegantly integrated and removable full-length rear fender that provides the rider with excellent protection from dirt and water spray from the rear wheel. This is in addition to the standard short fender, which helps protect the main pivot and cables, prolonging their life.
