You never know what the trail might throw at you: steep climbs and white-knuckle drops, hero dirt and chunky rocks. Whatever trail features and fun you find, the new Crossmax XL S is ready to roll. This best-in-class alloy 29” wheel features many of the proven technologies that have long made Mavic a leader in MTB wheel innovation. The rims are engineered with the patented Fore technology, featuring a fully sealed upper bridge that eliminates the need for rim tape. That saves 30 grams per wheel and does away with the hassle of using tape to set up tubeless tires. Mavic use ISM rim machining, which removes material in strategic areas of the rim to minimize weight without compromising strength. The rim has a 30mm internal width, optimized to squeeze the best performance out of any modern trail tire, and the Black Shield technology gives them distinctive finish that protects against scratches and abrasions. The use 24 straight-pull spokes to further dial in the sweet spot between lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. The Infinity hubs feature a stiffer and lighter construction that is enhanced by the ultra-reliable ID360 double ratchet system for fast engagement. The wheelset is set up for 6-bolt or center lock disc mounts and is compatible with Shimano HG9, SRAM XD, and Micro Spline freewheel bodies. It’s available in 29” only and ships with UST tubeless valves, spare spokes and accessories.

Maxtal aluminum alloy
Lightweight and strong. Exclusive to Mavic, this specific aluminum alloy offers a better strength-to-weight ratio than conventional 6106 alloy.

Instant Drive 360 freewheel system
The new Instant Drive 360 freewheel system is ultralight and efficient. An oversized non-contact rubber seal minimizes friction, and a wide selection of adapters makes it compatible with a wide range of frames and axles.

Tubeless UST Technology.
Traction and Control. Universal Tubeless Standard. Ride-ready tubeless system. The UST system improves traction, control and comfort while reducing inertia and the risk of punctures.

Infinity Hubs
Efficient power transfer through optimized non-contact spoke lacing (no noise under load) and tension distribution. Front and rear spoke lengths are identical. Easy maintenance due to tool-free solution.

QRM Auto bearing adjustment technology
Quality Mavic Auto bearings. These cartridge bearings are obviously double sealed, with C3 internal clearance. The system,a automatically adjusts to ensure, in the long run, perfect rotation without play.

Black Shield treatment (protects the rim from bumps and scratches)
This treatment doubles the life of the rim against bumps and scratches. Highly durable two-layer treatment with matte finish.

SUP Welding Technology.
Welded machining process, a stronger and smoother connection. After strapping, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded joint is then machined to achieve a smooth finish.

Tubeless technology without Fore rim tape.
Stiffer and stronger. Instead of being drilled, the lower bridge of the rim is pushed inward, qund then threaded to allow the spoke nipples to be screwed in directly, leaving the upper bridge intact.
