Mavic Crossmax SL 29" Boost wheelset

The Crossmax SL is designed to be the most advanced alloy XC wheel ever. For those who want to fly on XC trails, this lightweight and efficient 29" wheel offers the world's simplest tubeless system at an affordable price.

The Crossmax name has a long tradition in the cross-country world and the new Crossmax SL lives up to this legacy. It offers many of Mavic's proven technologies. Weighing only 1820 g (for the pair), it is a complete XC set, the best in its class.

The rims are made using the patented Fore technology with a fully sealed rim top bridge without the need for flaps. This saves 30 grams per wheel, not to mention the complications of using the flap to fit tubeless tyres. The rim has an inner width of 25 mm with a strong profile without hooks. Black Shield technology gives it a distinctive, modern look and protects it from scratches and abrasions.

24 straight-head spokes (the same spoke length for the entire construction) create a strong bond between the rim and the hub and a perfect balance between efficiency and strength. Special machining on the hub ensures that the spoke head is fixed, but can still move in the groove. In this way, the wheel absorbs impacts with obstacles on the trail. The Instant Drive 360 freewheel, combined with the QRM Auto bearing technology, ensures quick engagement and additional strength. The Crossmax SL 29 is compatible with Shimano HG9, Micro Spline and SRAM XD drivetrain bodies. It is available with 6-bolt or Center Lock rotors in 29" only and is compatible with a 15x110 front axle and 12x148 rear axle. Comes with valves, spare spokes and accessories.

Intended use

• ASTM Category 3: Cross country.
• For longer wheel life, Mavic recommends that the total weight borne by the wheels of the bike should not exceed 150 kg, including the bike.
• Maximum tyre pressure: 4.1bar/59PSI with a 28mm tyre - 2.45bar/36PSI with a 64mm tyre.
• Recommended tyre size: 28-64 mm (1.1-2.5).

Technologies

Tubeless technology without tap
More rigid and resistant. Instead of being drilled, the rim's lower deck is pushed up inside, then threaded to allow the spoke nipples to be screwed directly into it, leaving the rim's upper deck intact.

Tubeless UST technology
Traction and control. Universal tubeless standard. Ready-to-ride tubeless system. The UST concept improves traction, control and comfort while reducing inertia and flexing.

Instant Drive 360 freewheel technology
The new Instant Drive 360 freewheel system is super light and efficient. A large, non-contact rubber seal ensures low friction, while a wide range of endings makes it extremely versatile.

QRM Auto bearing preload technology
Mavic's latest innovation. The cartridge bearings are of course double sealed with C3 internal clearance. Their preload is automatically adjusted to ensure perfect rotation without play over long distances.

Black Shield treatment (protects the rim from shocks and scratches)
New MTB rim treatment. Lasts 2 times longer against shocks and scratches from rocks.

SUP welding technology
Stronger and smoother joint. After bending, the rim joint is arc-welded. The welded joint is then milled to a smooth finish.
