Fulcrum Red Zone Carbon+ 2WF-R AFS Boost 29 wheelset

The world of "Plus": the latest frontier of Fulcrum technology for MTB wheels.

Fulcrum's flagship product for XC and Marathon competitions evolves thanks to the feedback from top level athletes: Red Zone Carbon+ is the result of specific analyses and tests aimed at taking the performance of Red Zone Carbon to the next level. A process that personally involved the athletes of Team Buff-Megamo, who together with other athletes for a year tested different configurations on the race fields to find the perfect balance and the highest possible performance.
The result arrived just before the Cape Epic 2023: a wheel weighing 1.385 g, obtained thanks to the use of a mix of resins and FF100 unidirectional high-modulus fibres made to Fulcrum specifications, which maintains and improves all the structural characteristics and implements all the best Fulcrum technologies. Red Zone Carbon+ significantly improves handling and reactivity, respectively +9.5% and +10% compared to Red Zone Carbon.

The iconic and identifying shape of the Red Zone Carbon NIP(PLE) FORCE rim remains unchanged and the MoMag and DSRC technologies are inherited. The bearings are still of the cone-cup type, but are improved with the USB™ (Ceramic Ultra Smooth Bearings) system with ceramic balls, which further increase the wheels' smoothness and reduce weight and maintenance. Comparative tests have shown that USB™ bearings are 50% smoother than sealed bearings.

Technologies

2-WAY FIT™
2-Way Fit™ profile for tubeless and clincher tyres. Tubeless technology was adopted in the automotive sector, then in the motorbike sector and finally in cycling. After its debut with mountain bikes, it is now time to "put it on the road" by offering new types of wheels for racing bikes. Fulcrum has thus developed 2-Way Fit™ technology to ensure perfect compatibility of tubeless wheels even with normal clinchers and inner tubes. 2-Way Fit™ wheels are perfectly multipurpose for tackling any situation. Thanks to a special indentation in the valve area, tubes are fitted with maximum precision, keeping the tube perfectly stable inside the clincher. The valve for tubeless tyres is also accommodated without risk, with the undoubted advantage that there is never any air infiltration due to sub-optimal positioning during assembly.

USB™ - Ceramic ultra smooth bearings™
Fulcrum® has always been recognised for the extremely high smoothness performance and reliability of its hubs.
This is because all projects are developed in-house in the Fulcrum® R&D department and every detail is taken care of obsessively. Hubs equipped with USB™ ceramic bearings (Ultra Smooth Bearings) further enhance the wheels' smoothness and reduce weight and maintenance, making your racing bike wheels faithful allies.
Comparative tests have shown that USB™ bearings are 50% smoother than standard bearings.
Raising your performance in road races, triathlons, or simply pedalling with your friends will now become easier.

DRSC™ - Directionated rim-spoke coupling
The exclusive rim/spoke coupling system makes it possible to align the rim, spokes, nipples and hub by distributing the same amount of tension at each point, thus eliminating the most critical areas.

Momag™
What is the MoMag™? A magnet and a lot of ingenuity. This is how the patent for the proven 'Mounting Magnet' system was born. HOW DOES IT WORK? The nipples, once inserted inside the rim through the valve hole, are "guided" to the point of attachment with the spoke by the magnet. Thanks to this simple trick, it is possible to obtain a wheel without holes on the upper bridge, but with spokes tensioned by traditional nipples!
The absence of holes on the rim is also synonymous with a product that is homogeneous throughout, free of critical points or areas of failure. In fact, for clincher profiles, the use of Rim Tape is no longer necessary. The advantages are immediately perceivable: less weight, longer rim life, greater resistance to fatigue, the possibility of tensioning the spokes more and greater stiffness which, in terms of performance, mean more reactivity and acceleration.

F.I.C. Fulcrum identification card - 100% handmade quality
Since its inception, Fulcrum has been distinguished by a characteristic that continues to this day: designing, prototyping and industrialising all types of wheels marked with a red "F", whether they are wheels for racing bikes, MTB wheels, cyclocross wheels or for triathlon competitions.
These, in fact, take shape within the innovative R&D, the advanced department that is the beating heart of the Italian company.
Every single component of the wheels, the materials chosen and the technologies applied are the tangible result of the effort Fulcrum® makes every day to give you maximum performance and reliability.

AFS axle system™
The Axial Fixing System™ is the solution developed by Fulcrum® for fixing the disc brake to the hub. The constraint conferred by the fixing rebate surface, which is greater than in already known standards, makes it possible to achieve greater structural rigidity and therefore more precise and powerful braking.

Undrilled rim bed
The absence of holes in the upper deck is synonymous with a product that is homogeneous throughout, free of critical points subject to stress. The advantages are immediately perceptible: less weight, longer rim life, greater resistance to fatigue, the possibility of greater spoke tensioning and greater stiffness which, in terms of performance, mean more reactivity and acceleration.

Cup & Cone
The Cup & Cone bearing differs from classic cartridge bearings in that it works perfectly on axis with the forces in play, weight and thrust coming from the frame, as the balls run on a raceway positioned in direct opposition to these forces.
