DT Swiss HX 1700 Spline 29" wheelset

HX 1700 Spline®, technology to extend your eMTB ride.

An eMTB is designed to quickly ride up and down mountains and to provide fun. The new HX 1700 SPLINE, the high-end aluminum wheel, does precisely that. With several years of expertise in hybrid bicycle components and specific, demanding testing procedures, DT Swiss has redesigned this wheel to suit the extended use of e-mountain biking. The redesigned 350 hub features a bigger hub body, enabling better brake and drive torque resistance, resulting in better durability. The new hub is now combined with a high-end welded aluminum rim and reinforced hybrid spokes. This wheel is available in two inner widths and two wheel sizes and therefore ready for anyone who wants to extend their eMTB adventure.

Rim
An aluminum, hooked, tubeless ready rim available in 30 or 35 mm of inner width and in 29” or 27.5”.

Hub
Redesigned hub shell for enhanced durability with better brake and drive torque resistance than the previous range, and burlier eMTB look.

Freehub Body
The cassette interface of the freehub body is optimized with a specific hardened steel for the higher loads that occur on eMTBs.

Ratchet System
Proven Ratchet System, with a specific hardened steel freehub body.

Spokes
DT Hybrid 1 spokes are reinforced and increase the lateral and torsional stiffness of the wheel.

Technologies

Tubeless
All DT Swiss wheelsets are tubeless compatible and the ASM versions come tubeless ready, equipped with tubeless tape and valves. Tubeless tires have a number of advantages over the conventional combination of tube and tire: without risking snakebites, the tire can be run with lower pressures providing better grip. The lower pressure also results in a more comfortable ride. Eliminating the tube means there is no friction between tube and tire and therefore less rolling resistance when the tire rolls over the ground and obstacles. If tubeless sealant is used, the tire can self-seal stings and small cuts. A big advantage for all those who like to ride for long and far away from the next bikeshop.

Pro Lock
Pro Lock is a process where a dual compound, adhesive liquid is injected into the nipple thread, allowing for extremely durable wheel builds. By threading the nipple onto the spoke the adhesive is activated and starts to harden. Re-truing the wheel is still possible after the adhesive has hardened completely, with only a minimal decrease of its thread-lock function. DT Pro Lock nipples prevent the spoke-nipple connection from loosening, wheel durability improves up to 20 times compared to non Pro Lock builds. Suitable for either hand or machine built wheels. Use of grease or oil not recommended. All DT Swiss nipples are available with and without DT Pro Lock.

Engagement angle
The engagement angle is the maximum degree that the freehub body can rotate until the teeth of the freehub system engage and accelerate the hub. This angle is calculated by dividing 360º by the number of engagement points of the freehub system.

Ratchet
The patented freewheel system, which features high-precision star ratchets, guarantees top performance and reliability.
The simultaneous engagement of the ratchet teeth makes the Ratchet System extremely reliable since the loads are distributed equally across a large contact surface. The plug-in construction of the Ratchet System hubs allows for quick and tool-free maintenance. The no-tool concept allows the conversion to a different drivetrain standard within seconds.
