DT Swiss GRC 1400 Dicut 50 Disc rear wheel

A standout off-road experience

In the split second you leave the road behind, your arms anticipate the switch into rocky, effervescent terrain. The GRC 1400 DICUT is ready for the vibrations and obstacles of a gravel tour, so you can leave not just the road, but your shadow and inhibitions behind as well. With two distinctive rim heights, harness the reliability to smoothly ride over crisp champagne-like gravel segments with speed or confidently tackle the on-the-rocks unpredictability of unbeaten trails. 50 mm of aerodynamic optimization is ideal for KOM/QOM hunting and for beating your friends on your favorite gravel segment. The low steering moment of the 30 mm high rim provides the agility needed on long adventures, unhooking you from any limitations. Both rims come finished out of the mold thanks to a new patented manufacturing process that eliminates the need for a final coating. This makes your wheelset light yet durable and guarantees you will stand out. With the ideal performance to weight ratio of the 240 DICUT hub and resistant DT aero comp II spokes, the new GRC 1400 DICUT wheels can’t wait to leave the road. Now it is up to you to decide. Are you off the hook or on the hunt?

Technologies

Ratchet EXP
The hubs are known for their no tool technology. We found a way to further improve this system and make maintenance even simpler, by a small change of the end caps. Less Weight: not only the reliability improved. The fusion of ratchet and threaded ring reduces the number of single parts of the system, which offers an important advantage. Less Wear: a single cylindrical spring ensures faster full engagement and thus increases reliability. The full engagement of the ratchets creates a large contact surface and therefore low surface pressure that leads to superior reliability. The integration of the bearing into the threaded ring allows the bearing distance to be maximized. The increased distance further supports the axis, which results in less deflection of the axle and thus protects the bearings and increases their lifetime.

Aero+
When refining a wheel according to AERO+, the optimization of all parameters is subject to one single goal: higher speeds! Translational drag is the aerodynamic force in the riding direction that slows the cyclist down. It consists of the frontal area of the cyclist (75 %), the road bike and its components (25 %), and speed. To minimize this translational drag, the surface of the overall system needs to be minimized while streamlining the entire road bike and cyclist as far as possible. If you want to be faster, the key is to reduce the aerodynamic drag of the complete system of road bike and cyclist as the force increases proportionally with the square of speed. From 15 km/h upwards, aerodynamic drag is the greatest resistance a cyclist has to overcome. As the front wheel contributes 8 % of total drag, the wheel’s behavior plays a significant role.

Tubeless Technology
All DT Swiss wheelsets are tubeless compatible and the ASM versions come tubeless ready, equipped with tubeless tape and valves. Tubeless tires have a number of advantages over the conventional combination of tube and tire: without risking snakebites, the tire can be run with lower pressures providing better grip. The lower pressure also results in a more comfortable ride. Eliminating the tube means there is no friction between tube and tire and therefore less rolling resistance when the tire rolls over the ground and obstacles. If tubeless sealant is used, the tire can self-seal stings and small cuts. A big advantage for all those who like to ride long and far from the next bikeshop.

Spoke technology
The production of high-quality spokes marked the beginning of the company. DT was synonymous with top quality Swiss spokes, even before the establishment of today‘s DT Swiss AG. To this day, DT Swiss spokes stand for durability and precision and are unrivalled thanks to their unique production process that combines lightweight with durability.

New carbon mold rim technology
An industry disrupting rim manufacturing process and a layer-by-layer nondestructive inspection of every product creates light yet durable rims for a long-lasting riding experience. Traditionally the industry standard constructs the parts of a carbon rim separately, which can lead to irregularities when joining the parts together. Our new method allows us to construct a high impact resistant rim where the fibers in the outer layers are not cut and thus have continuous strands in the impact areas. This results in a more consistent structure with minimal imperfections.
