Technologies
Dynamo hub technology
A front dynamo hub that acts as a power source for your lights and other devices is now extending our renowned range of hubs. From a distance, what may look like a standard hub when fitted to your wheelset is actually hiding a dynamo. DT Swiss collaborated with Shutter Precision, a market leader for dynamo hub technology, smoothly integrating their SP PL-7 generator into a tailored hub shell. The dynamo hub generates electricity from the rotation of the front wheel to power your lights and other electrical devices. This adds some resistance, but thanks to the design of the hub shell and the efficiency of the SP PL-7, it has a minimal effect on your ride. Efficiency is measured both with the light on and off.
The Ratchet Technologies
Every ratchet has its purpose. Learn more about the different DT Swiss freehub systems. Each Ratchet System has its special characteristics, but they all provide the iconic reliability. This is a result of the simultaneous engagement of the teeth, creating far fewer point loads. Discover how the constructions differ and which common features they share.
Tubeless technology
All DT Swiss wheelsets are tubeless compatible and the ASM versions come tubeless ready, equipped with tubeless tape and valves. Tubeless tires have a number of advantages over the conventional combination of tube and tire: without risking snakebites, the tire can be run with lower pressures providing better grip. The lower pressure also results in a more comfortable ride. Eliminating the tube means there is no friction between tube and tire and therefore less rolling resistance when the tire rolls over the ground and obstacles. If tubeless sealant is used, the tire can self-seal stings and small cuts. A big advantage for all those who like to ride long and far from the next bikeshop.
Spoke technology
The production of high-quality spokes marked the beginning of the company. DT was synonymous with top quality Swiss spokes, even before the establishment of today‘s DT Swiss AG. To this day, DT Swiss spokes stand for durability and precision and are unrivalled thanks to their unique production process that combines lightweight with durability.
