Black Chili Compound
The crux of cycling. The running properties of a tyre's rubber compound are largely determined by three interacting factors: static friction [grip], rolling resistance and mileage. The dilemma: if you improve one of these factors, at least another will get worse. A tyre with maximum grip wears out faster and rolls slower. If you make the tyre faster or stronger, its grip is reduced. With BlackChili, a tread compound always based on the latest discoveries in polymer and raw material research, Continental has provided the cycling scene with a lasting answer. Depending on the area of use of a tyre, they adapt the formulation of the compound specifically, whether for racing bikes, mountain bikes, time trials or downhill. For BlackChili, they refine special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to create particularly high-performance compounds. Soot particles are then added to these mixtures, which in turn are optimised in terms of shape and surface properties. The complex compound technology is so sensitive that tyres with BlackChili compounds are produced exclusively in Korbach.

ProTection Technology
ProTection Technology offers tyres a perfect mix of smoothness, grip and puncture protection. This is made possible by an additional, all-round puncture protection layer, which makes the entire tyre particularly resistant and insensitive to injuries. In spite of the additional layer, the tyre has excellent damping properties and adapts perfectly to the most difficult trails. BlackChili provides the necessary smoothness and grip.
